Making Christ at the Center of your Family
If you want your kids to have strong faith that lasts, you need to nurture it at home by making Christ the center of your family.
Here’s how you can make Christ the center of your family:
Give God 100 percent. Understand that if you want God’s power to flow through all aspects of your family members’ lives, you’ve all got to be wholeheartedly committed to Him.
Model faith for your kids. Realize that if you want your kids to have a faith that impacts their critical life decisions, you need to show them how to trust God for decisions in your own life. Let them see and hear you pray. Share your struggles and joys openly and honestly. Assess where you are in your personal faith journey, and strive to model the kind of relationship that you’d like your kids to have with Christ.
Talk about faith with your kids. Incorporate talks about faith into your normal activities. Share devotions as a family. Continually repeat God’s basic truths to your kids so the principles will sink in over time. Realize that the more you devote yourself to living out your faith, the more God will bless you – and your family.
Challenges to making our relationship with God a priority always crop up. But as our children see how we handle those conflicts and revere God in the process, they begin to understand the privilege and rewards of putting God first.
"Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need." Matthew 6:33 (NLT)
