Spring Has Sprung: A Season of New Life And New Beginnings

Springtime follows the dark cold of winter. The days grow longer, and the sun’s light becomes more intense. It is a time of year when we remember the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, the Light of the world. Because of faith in Him, we have a new life inside us, and we get the privilege of sharing that life with the world.

Here are some things that can help us spring into the spring season with wisdom and purpose.

Release the past

All of us have things that weigh on our minds, bodies, and spirits. A wrecked relationship. Financial setbacks. Health issues. Concerns about mistakes we've made. Whatever it is, it's important (and necessary) to RELEASE it all - forgive yourself - and forget the past. Paul writes in Philippians. 3:14, “Forget what lies behind, and reach forward to what lies ahead.” Learn from our past, but do not live there.

Embrace the present

I love what Paul says in Philippians 4:6, where he writes, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true …think about such things.” Paul encourages us to focus on whatever is true…whatever is real in our lives, not what is imagined or ‘might be.’ In other words, we need to live in the present and enjoy the current state - regardless of how it looks.

Train yourself to be godly

We can clean the house, wash clothes, empty that old trash in the backyard, trim the trees, and fertilize the grass. These are all important things, but what's equally as important is to take care of our godly temples! This requires taking care of our minds, bodies, and spirits each and every day. It means disciplining ourselves so that others can be blessed by our lives. This entails monitoring what we do, say, and watch. Being mindful of the company we keep, and the place we go. And being at one with God. Paul told Timothy to "have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather train yourself to be godly. (1 Timothy 4:7 NIV)

Remember God is for you

Life is just hard, and throwing in the towel is a temptation for each of us. Stay encouraged, Beloved. Remember that God is for us (Romans 8:31); God loves us so much that he sent his only son, Jesus, to die for us so we will everlasting life (John 3:6); and the Holy Spirit continues be with us (Isaiah 11:2).

God is ready to empower us as we forget our past failures, live in the present, and train ourselves to be godly. He understands our needs and desires, and encourages us to release our cares to him - and embrace the symbolism of new life that Spring brings forth.
